Bamkuch (tree cake) is a traditional Luxembourg cake, particularly popular at weddings.
You can buy a version of it at the Sweet Tree Bakery based at 1 Crescent Road, London N22 7RP (nearest mainline station Alexandra Palace). It comes in rings of two sizes, which are covered in brown or white chocolate.
This small establishment, which is very popular among the locals, bakes all its own breads and cakes on the premises, using only the finest ingredients, without any artificial additives.
Their pastries, rolls and salads are to die for – so if you find yourself in this neck of the woods, do drop in for a coffee and a snack!
And don’t forget to take home a slice of their delicious Bamkuch! If you are making a special trip, it is advisable that you call them on 020 8888 5531 in advance, to make sure they have some in stock.
Alexandra Palace, with its panoramic views over the capital, is about a mile away. You can take a stroll up the hill, or go by bus.
