Further information on the St Alfege Church website
St Alfege Church stands at the heart of historic Greenwich within the National Maritime World Heritage Site. It is dedicated to the memory of Alfege, the Archbishop of Canterbury who was martyred on this site in 1012 and was the first London church designed by Sir Nicholas Hawksmoor. Many key historical figures in Greenwich’s royal, maritime and scientific history have close links with the church.
St Alfege Church has a rich musical tradition and is the burial place of Thomas Tallis. It regularly hosts recitals and concerts with free lunchtime concerts every Thursday and most Saturdays at 1.05pm.
