Elgar’s Enigma Variations
October 25 @ 6:15 pm - 8:00 pm
Part of the Royal College of Music Orchestral Masterworks series
RCM alumnus and clarinet professor Timothy Lines enjoys a wide-ranging career performing with major orchestras all over the world.
Here he picks up the baton to conduct Elgar’s bold tone poem In the South, followed by one of his most celebrated pieces of music, ‘Enigma’. This ambitious orchestral work features 14 variations on an original theme. Some suggest that the ‘enigma’ is a hidden melody within the piece.
