Luxembourg National Day 2019
The Luxembourg National Day, which is celebrated every year on 23rd June, marks the official birthday of the Sovereign, HRH Grand Duke Henri.
Festivities start on the previous evening, on 22nd June, with a torchlight procession, fireworks and an open-air party taking place throughout the streets of the capital. There are concerts, dance events and food stalls.
On the day itself, there is an official ceremony in the morning at the Philharmonie, in the presence of the grand ducal family, MPs, members of the government, members of the State Council, the judiciary, the city council of Luxembourg City and the diplomatic community. The general public is also invited.
This is followed by a 101-gun salute and a military parade, and a thanksgiving service at Notre-Dame Cathedral in the afternoon.
Attendance at the traditional reception in London, on 19th June, organised by the Luxembourg Embassy, is strictly by invitation only.
