Open Day at the Upminster Tithe Barn
September 7 @ 10:30 am - 4:00 pmFree
The Upminster Tithe Barn is a small museum located in Hall Lane, Upminster RM14 1AU, in the London Borough of Havering.
The thatched barn, which dates from 1450, was part of an estate associated with Waltham Abbey. The Abbott’s hunting lodge next door was later converted to a private house, and is now home to Upminster Golf Club.
It wasn’t until 1976 that the barn was refurbished and then opened as an agricultural museum.
The Museum of Nostagia
Today it is known ‘The Upminster Tithe Barn Museum of Nostalgia’ and houses a broad display of domestic items from the last century, as well as agricultural machinery.
In addition to the open day on September 7th, it can also be visited during the Open House weekend on September 21st and 22nd, and on October 5th.
Entry is free, but a small donation is much appreciated
