Public tour of the collections at Burlington House
This is a unique opportunity to visit the historic apartments of the Society of Antiquaries of London at Burlington House, and to learn about the history of one of Britain’s oldest learned societies.
The tour takes in the meeting rooms and the library, and some of the remarkable artefacts contained in the Society’s collections, such as rare examples of Tudor portraiture, including a famous portrait of Mary I by Hans Eworth and two 16th-century portraits of Richard III (one of which is probably the earliest-surviving copy of a portrait painted in his lifetime).
The Society of Antiquaries of London is at Burlington House, Piccadilly, London W1J 0BE.
The tour costs £10.00 per person and includes tea or coffee upon arrival.
There is a free lecture by Fellow Dr Ben Outhwaite about the Cairo Genizah Collection at 1.00pm. The tour and the lecture need to be booked separately.
