This illustrated presentation delves into the unique and curious history of the Thames from the past to the present. London’s river has been a focus for sacred rites and popular superstition since ancient times. Items covered will include the ritual deposition of artefacts, legends, ghosts, Cleopatra’s Needle, Deadman’s Hole, the execution of pirates and modern murders, plus river ceremonial and customs.
